Loggers Open Dual Season With Sweep Of Lutes
PARKLAND, Wash. - The Puget Sound Loggers won nine of 11 events in both the men's and women's competitions as they swept a Northwest Conference dual meet from the host Pacific Lutheran Lutes on Friday evening at PLU Swimming Pool in Parkland, Wash.
The Loggers had the best of the swimming for most of the evening. Hally Roberts (Boulder, Colo./Kenyon College) won the 50 freestyle (26.00) and the 100 freestyle (56.89), while Bret Schluederberg (Chapel Hill, N.C.) won the 100 free (49.21) and the 200 free (1:51.06) for the visitors.
One of the closest races also came in the longest as Jack Zaharchuk (Portland, Ore.) outlasted Alex Limoges in the 1000 freestyle to win by 0.77 seconds with a time of 10:32.14.
The Loggers will head down to Salem, Ore. on Saturday for a dual meet with the Willamette Bearcats.
