Logger Swimmers Make Most of Home Debut
TACOMA, Wash. - Posting the top times in 15 of 18 individual event and all four relays, the Puget Sound Loggers made the most out of their 2008-09 home debut by defeating the Linfield Wildcats, 121-71 for the men and 118-81 for the women, in a Northwest Conference swim dual on Friday evening at Wallace Pool in Tacoma, Wash.
Elizabeth "Mac" MacAfee (Los Gatos, Calif.) shined for the Loggers, winning three events on the night. MacAfee won the 200 free (2:15.73), 100 butterfly (1:08.89), and 400 free (4:50.61).
On the men's side, Bret Schluederberg (Chapel Hill, N.C.) and Jackson Kowalski (Keizer, Ore.) each won two events to lead the Loggers to victory. Schluederberg won the 50 free (24.72) and 100 free (55.92) while Kowalski took first in the 200 individual medley (2:19.15) and 100 fly (1:04.68).
The Loggers head to Spokane next weekend for the Northwest Invitational, hosted by Whitworth University.
