Loggers Swimmers Take 2nd At Northwest Invite
SPOKANE, Wash. - A one-two finish in the men's 100 backstroke by Jackson Kowalski (Keizer, Ore./McNary) and Garrett Gentling (Shoreline, Wash./Shorewood) highlighted the Puget Sound Loggers' Saturday at the Northwest Invitational in Spokane.
A strong team effort allowed the Loggers to take second in both the men's and women's standings, trailing only host Whitworth. Kowalski and Gentling battled in the men's 100 backstroke, pushing each other under 55 seconds. Kowalski took first with a time of 53.95 and Gentling finished just behind with a time of 54.69.
The Loggers were aided to the second place team finishes by a number of second place individual finishes. Puget Sound put together 720 team points on the women's side and 754 in the men's team standings.
The Loggers will take a break for Thanksgiving before a select group will travel to Federal Way, Wash. for the Husky Invitational, hosted by the University of Washington, at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.
