FOREST GROVE, Ore. - Winning 16 of 22 events, the Puget Sound Loggers resumed the Northwest Conference swim schedule in fine fashion, swimming past the Pacific Boxers on Saturday in Forest Grove, Ore. The Logger men collected a 139-41 victory while the Puget Sound women won 122.5-74.5.
The Logger women were led by a pair of wins from freshman Ava Williams (Eagle River, Alaska/Chugiak). Williams collected a near 10-second victory in the 200yd freestyle with a time of 2:01.86 and then collected a nearly two-second victory in the 100yd freestyle with a time of 56.58. The Puget Sound women won seven of 11 events in their return to NWC action.
On the men's side, the Loggers were led by two wins from freshman Aleksander Jeremic (Skopje, Macedonia/Nova). Jeremic took the 200yd freestyle with a time of 1:47.99 and then improved his seed time to win the 100yd butterfly with a time of 53.27. The Logger men dominated the meet, winning 10 of 11 events as they collected the 98 point victory.
The Loggers are in action again next Saturday when they play host to Lewis & Clark in their final home meet of 2009-10. Following a trip to Whitman and Whitworth the following week, the Loggers will prepare for the 2010 Northwest Conference Championships on Feb. 12-14 at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash.
