Loggers Pacify Bearcats In Pool
TACOMA, Wash. - Winning 26 of 28 events, the Puget Sound Loggers easily defeated the Willamette Bearcats in a Northwest Conference swimming dual on Saturday afternoon at Wallace Pool in Tacoma, Wash. The Logger men won 184-49 while the Logger women picked up a 167-86 victory.
After Willamette won the opening event of the meet, the Loggers preceded to win the next 11 events to take a commanding lead. Willamette's lone individual win came in the women's 50m freestyle as Lauren Ballinger outtouched Puget Sound freshman Crystal Ignatowski (Keizer, Ore./McNary) but the Loggers would dominate the rest of the meet.
Freshman Aleksander Jeremic (Skopje, Macedonia/Nova) won three different events for the Loggers as he was victorious in the 800m freestyle, 50m freestyle and 200m individual medley. Kelsey Elizondo (Salt Lake City, Utah/Judge Memorial) was also a multi-event winner for the Loggers, taking first in the 200m butterfly, 400m freestyle and 200m individual medley.
Jackson Kowalski (Keizer, Ore./McNary) earned victories in the 100m backstroke and 100m butterfly. Adam Ganz (Cleveland, Ohio/Beachwood) won both the 200m freestyle and the 100m freestyle. Zachary Walker (Portland, Ore./Grant) won the 200m butterfly and the 200m backstroke.
The Loggers head down to Oregon on Friday to take on Linfield in McMinnville.
