Stewart Takes 5th In 60m At Vandal Invite
MOSCOW, Idaho - Competiting in his first indoor meet of the season, sprinter Darrell Stewart (Long Beach, Calif./Loyola) kept with the field in the 60m dash, taking fifth, to lead the Puget Sound Loggers as the Vandal Invitational on Friday evening at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow, Idaho.
Stewart posted the fifth quickest time in qualifying, covering the straightaway in 7.21 seconds. The finals pitted Stewart against an all-Division I field. Stewart nearly won the battle for fourth, finishing with a time of 7.22., just one-hundredth of a second befind Brett Igbinoba of Eastern Washington.
Senior Isaac Blum (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Torrey Pines) also competed in the 60m Dash, taking 14th in prelims with a time of 7.44. In the men's triple jump, Jimmy Ivory (Des Moines, Wash./Federal Way) took ninth with a jump of 12.71 (41-8.50) and freshman Alec DiMario (Lake Forest, Ill.) took tenth with a mark of 12.13 (39-9.75).
The Loggers return to the Kibbie Dome on Saturday for the Runner's Soul Open.
