Loggers Open Outdoor Season Against SPU, WWU

TACOMA, Wash. - On a cold and windy day, the Puget Sound Loggers opened up the outdoor portion of the 2009 schedule as they played host to Seattle Pacific and Western Washington in a track and field meet on Saturday at Baker Stadium in Tacoma, Wash.

The Loggers met plenty of Northwest Conference qualifying cuts in their first meet of the season.  Senior Darrell Stewart (Long Beach, Calif./Loyola) ran past 17 other runners to win the 200m Dash with a time of 22.90.  Alverno Middleton (Lakewood, Wash./Clover Park) won the shot put with a toss of 14.19m (46-6.75).

Puget Sound will hope for a little better weather next weekend when they host some of the top small college athletes in the Northwest in the Joe Peyton Invitational on Saturday.
