Loggers Run Through Rain At Peyton Invite

TACOMA, Wash. - The Puget Sound Logger, along with six other teams spanning all three NCAA divisions, battled through the cold rain on Saturday at the Joe Peyton Invitational at Baker Stadium in Tacoma, Wash.

The Loggers' lone event win came in the men's shot put as senior Alverno Middleton (Lakewood, Wash./Clover Park) unleashed a throw of 46-11.75 (14.32m) to take first in the 14-person field.  Greg Bailey (Beaverton, Ore./Westview) took third in the hammer with a toss of 164-07 (50.18m).  Freshman Alex DiMario (Lake Forest, Ill.) finished third in the men's long jump with a leap of 20-02.50 (6.16m).

On the women's side, Caitlin McGrane (Colville, Wash.) took second in the 100m Hurdles with a time of 15.37 and third in the 800m with a mark of 2:27.38.  Hayley Walker (Cambria, Calif./Coast Union) was third in the 5000m run with a time of 18:56.61.

The Loggers will next be in action on Friday when they travel down to Willamette to take part in the Charles Bowles Classic in Salem, Ore.
