Loggers Set Eight Season-Bests at Pacific Luau Meet

FOREST GROVE, Ore. - Previewing the site for the 2009 Northwest Conference Championships, the Puget Sound Loggers found themselves quite comfortable in the facilities at Lincoln Park Stadium, posting eight season-bests at the Pacific Luau Meet on Saturday in Forest Grove, Ore.

On the women's side, the Loggers took first among three NWC teams in the 4x400m relay, posting a winning time of 4:23.50.  Senior Karen Chase (Yakima, Wash./West Valley) unleashed her best throw of the season to win the shot put with a mark of 12.10m (38-8.5). 

On the men's side, Darrell Stewart (Long Beach, Calif./Loyola) placed first in the 200m dash with a time of 22.52, the quickest in the NWC this season.  Junior Francis Reynolds (Palo Alto, Calif.) won the 5000m run by over nine seconds with a time of 15:10.10.  The Loggers took first in both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays on round out an excellent day on the track. 

In the field events, Alverno Middleton (Lakewood, Wash./Clover Park) won the shot put with a throw of 14.26m (46-9.5) while Greg Bailey (Beaverton, Ore./Westview) took first in the hammer throw with a toss of 50.23m (164-9).

The Loggers will play host to the NWC Multi-Event Championships on Monday and Tuesday before traveling to Ellensburg next Saturday for the Spike Arlt Invitational, hosted by Central Washington.
