Loggers Run Final Tune-up in Ellensburg
ELLENSBURG, Wash. - With just one week to go until the 2009 Northwest Conference Championships in Forest Grove, Ore., the Puget Sound Loggers took one final opportunity to qualify for conference and better their marks at the Spike Arlt Invitational on Saturday in Ellensburg, Wash.
In the women's 400m Dash, Andrea Leiken (Portland, Ore./Sunset) set a new season best, taking third with a time of 1:01.48 to win her heat. In the women's shot put, Karen Chase (Yakima, Wash./West Valley) improved her conference leading mark with a throw of 12.26m (40-2.75).
On the men's side, Wiley Putnam (Seattle, Wash./Overlake) improved his time in the 400m Dash with a time of 52.40. Robert Snowden (Eugene, Ore./South Eugene) took fifth in the 800m Run with a mark of 2:00.98. In the shot put, Alverno Middleton (Lakewood, Wash./Clover Park) threw a season-best 15.22m (49-11.25) to take third.
The 2009 NWC Championships begin on Friday at Lincoln Park Stadium in Forest Grove, Ore.
