Reynolds Takes Second in 10K to Highlight Day One At NWC Championship

FOREST GROVE, Ore. - Junior Francis Reynolds (Palo Alto, Calif.) took second with an NCAA Provisional time in the men's 10,000m run to highlight the Puget Sound Loggers on the first day of the 2009 Northwest Conference Championships at Lincoln Park Stadium in Forest Grove, Ore.

Reynolds finished the 25 lap race in 30:55.46 to finish about 10 seconds behind Nicholas Gallagher of Whitworth University.  In other men's races, Darrell Stewart (Long Beach, Calif./Loyola) and Isaac Blum (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Torrey Pines) qualified for the Saturday final in both the 100m dash and 200m dash. 

In the women's races, junior Caitlin McGrane (Colville, Wash.) was the top qualifier in the 100m hurdles, covering the course in 15.08 seconds.  Andrea Leiken (Portland, Ore./Sunset) qualified for the final in the 400m dash, taking eighth.

The Loggers and the rest of the Northwest Conference will resume the conference championship meet on Saturday, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
