TACOMA, Wash. – The 26th annual Shotwell Invitational wrapped up the Puget Sound track & field teams' home schedule on Saturday with Andrea Leiken again shining for the Loggers.
Leiken and Alicia Burns brought home the Loggers three wins on the day. As was customary for Logger home meets this year, Leiken won both the 200m and 400m dashes. She posted a 26.04 in the 200m and a 57.56 in the 400m.
Burns took home the 800m title at the Loggers largest home meet of the year with a 2:22.28.
Maya Hallstein provided another highlight for the women's team, finishing second in the long jump with a leap of 16-feet, 2.5-inches.
Matt Klein had the highlight performance on the men's side in the 5000m run. Klein came in second in the event with an NWC qualifying time of 15:17.18.
The men's 4x100m relay also came in second place with a time of 45.46.
The Logger women finished second overall with 112 points in the meet. Western Washington took the team title with 180 points. WWU also took the men's title with 263.5 points. Pacific Lutheran came in second and Everett Community College came in third. The Loggers finished fourth with 42 points.
Joe Cerne will head to the NWC Multis on Monday and Tuesday to compete in the decathlon against the best decathletes in the Northwest Conference on the campus of Linfield. The rest of the team will next compete at the Luau Invitational in Forest Grove, Ore.
