Wells named Freshman of the Year, men place 7th, women finish 8th

SPOKANE, Washington – Matt Wells was named the Male Freshman of the Year after he won the 100-meter hurdles, and the men's track & field team finished in seventh place, while the women placed eighth in the Northwest Conference Championships.

On the men's side, Matt Wells won the 100-meter hurdles. Miles Carlson was fifth in the 100-meter dash, while Isaac Fournier was sixth in the 800-meter run and fourth in the 1500. Jack Monaghan was 13th in the 5000-meter run. The 4x100 meter relay team (Carlson, Kai Moya, Graham Cobb, Chris Branham) came in seventh, while the 4x400 team of Cobb, Wells, Moya, and Fournier finished fourth. Wells placed ninth in the high jump, and Doug Parker was 10th in the javelin.

For the women, Logan Bays finished sixth, while Anna Joseph was eighth in the 100-meter dash. Joseph was seventh and Bays was eighth in the 200-meter dash. In the 800-meter run, Emery Bradlina placed second (2:13.26), while Alison Wise was fourth. Wise also came in sixth in the 1500-meter run. The 4x100 meter relay made up of Bays, Mara Cummings, Joseph, and Emily Prasil came in sixth, while the 4x400 meter relay (Cummings, Emma Hatton, Wise, Bradlina) checked in in fourth place. In field events, Prasil finished 14th in the triple jump and Sam Inouye was 10th in the javelin.  

Puget Sound will next compete in the Ralph Vernacchia Invitational on April 29th at 9 a.m.
