TACOMA, Washington – Six Loggers scored in double figures at the Puget Sound women's basketball team finished with its second-highest scoring output of the season with an 88-55 win over Linfield on Saturday evening.
Emily Sheldon led all players with 16 points, and Olivia Roberts matched her career-high with 14 points. Ashley Agcaoili scored a career-high 13 points, Alexis Noren netted 11, and Amanda Forshay scored 10. Katy Ainslie recorded her third double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds in the winning effort.
Puget Sound's 88 points is the best since it defeated Colorado College, 94-45, on Dec. 6.
The Loggers (13-1, 4-1 NWC) controlled the tempo from the start as their full-court pressure stymied the Wildcats (7-8, 1-5 NWC). The Puget Sound defense forced 13 first-half turnovers and held Linfield to just 24.1 percent shooting from the floor. On the other end of the court, Puget Sound shot 51.5 percent and assisted on over half of its field goals as the Loggers carried a 45-19 lead into halftime.
The Logger lead reached 30 points when Noren connected on a pair of free-throws to put Puget Sound ahead, 66-36, midway through the second half.
In all, the Loggers shot 47.6 percent from the floor and 47.4 percent from 3-point range. Linfield shot 34.5 percent from the floor and 20 percent from long range.
The Loggers continue conference play when they travel to Whitworth on Friday, Jan. 23, for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
