TACOMA, Washington – The No. 14/14 Puget Sound women's basketball won its eighth consecutive game with a 91-58 victory over crosstown rival Pacific Lutheran in Memorial Fieldhouse on Tuesday night.
Samone Jackson – the reigning Northwest Conference Student-Athlete of the Week - led all players with 17 points by shooting 7-for-11 from the floor and 3-for-6 from 3-point range. Elizabeth Prewitt added 15 points in the Loggers' (15-1, 7-0 NWC) win, while Caitlin Malvar and Jamie Lange both finished with 12 points.
Lange also added seven rebounds, marking the seventh time in eight games the freshman has finished with at least seven boards.
Three Loggers scored 12 points by halftime: Jackson, Prewitt, and Malvar. Lange had five points and six boards by the midway point of the game. The Loggers held a 48-26 lead over the Lutes (1-15, 0-7 NWC) at the break.
The Loggers shot 48.5 percent from the floor, and they held the Lutes to just 33.3 percent shooting. Puget Sound dominated the boards, 46-33.
The Loggers continue their NWC slate at home against Pacific on Friday, Jan. 20, at 6 p.m.
