The Loggers (23-1, 15-0 NWC) remained undefeated in league play by taking down crosstown rival, Pacific Lutheran, in a mid-week battle. Puget Sound won, 91-60, with Samone Jackson scoring 28 points, including six treys, and Jamie Lange recording another double-double, with 17 points and 17 rebounds.
More Moni
Samone Jackson is proving that her outstanding freshman season, in which she was named to the All-NWC Second Team, was not a fluke. The sophomore is averaging 17.5 points per game, which is second in the Northwest Conference. She most recently scored 28 points, including going 6-for-8 from beyond the arc. Jackson has 77 made 3-pointers this season, which is two away from setting a new Puget Sound single-season record.
Clinched
With their win over Whitworth last weekend, the Loggers clinched the Northwest Conference regular-season title. It is the program's first outright NWC regular-season title. Puget Sound have shared the crown three times: 2007-08 (George Fox), 2006-07 (George Fox), and 2003-04 (Whitman).
Double-double
Jamie Lange has recorded four consecutive double-doubles, and has five overall this year. She most recently had a 17 point, 17 rebound game, in which she pulled down 10 offensive boards. Lange was named the NWC Student-Athlete of the Week after a double-double against Willamette in which she scored 21 points and pulled down 18 rebounds. She has scored in double figures for the last 14 games, and is averaging 11.6 ppg. She is second in the league for rebounding, averaging 8.5 boards per game.
