Lacrosse hosts Wildcats and Pirates, Sunday acts as Senior Day

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound lacrosse team is set for a pair of home games this weekend. The Loggers welcome Linfield for a NWC match-up on Saturday, before taking on Southwestern on Sunday for Senior Day.

Senior day

Sunday will act as Senior Day for the five fourth-year Loggers on the team. Hailey Shoemaker, Meghan Bacher, Marcella Heineke, Elena Becker, and Haley Schuster will all be honored for their contributions to the program before Sunday's game against Southwestern begins.

Puget Sound's last games

The Loggers (4-4, 1-3 NWC) most recently fell in a pair of Northwest Conference games last weekend. Meghan Bacher had two goals and an assist, while Roxanne Krietzman had two goals. Haley Schuster, Ella Frazer, and Ali Walker each scored a goal as well. Ally Benko played all 120 minutes in goal, making 15 saves.  

Logger leaders

Roxanne Krietzman leads Puget Sound with 17 goals. Haley Schuster has 16 goals this season, while Meghan Bacher and Ella Frazer are just behind with 14 goals. Marcella Heineke and Hailey Shoemaker lead the squad with 23 ground balls. Frazer leads the Loggers with 27 draw controls, and Elena Becker has caused a team-high 14 turnovers. Ally Benko is 3-4 in goal, with a 12.29 goals-against average.

Scouting the Wildcats (1-9, 0-3 NWC)

Linfield College most recently fell, 15-3, to Pacific. The team opened the season with a win over Dallas, and has since lost nine consecutive games. Puget Sound defeated the Wildcats, 11-8, in McMinnville earlier this year. The team is scoring 4.30 goals per game, led by Mae Seifert, who has recorded 15 goals and four assists. Dana Brooks is just behind with 12 goals and one assist. Kylee Duey is 1-9 in goal, making 63 saves and has a 13.70 goals-against average.

Scouting the Pirates (6-6)

Southwestern University is located in Georgetown, Texas. The team most recently defeated Pacific 12-11, after beating Birmingham-Southern, 23-15. The Pirates score 10.67 goals per game, led by Kate Davis, who has 27 goals scored. Hayley Donnelly and Ronni Winter have each recorded 22, and Kaitlyn Campbell has 20 goals. Jordan Little is 6-6 in goal, making 73 saves, while recording a 12.77 goals-against average.
