Loggers welcome Blues for final home game of 2017

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound lacrosse team is set to host Whitman for the final home game of the 2017 season this weekend. The Loggers welcome the Blues on Friday.

Puget Sound's last weekend

The Loggers (5-5, 2-3 NWC) most recently defeated Linfield, 12-6, before falling to Southwestern, 18-7. Meghan Bacher scored six goals in Saturday's win. The five Puget Sound seniors – Hailey Shoemaker, Haley Schuster, Elena Becker, Meghan Bacher, and Marcella Heineke – were honored before the game on Sunday for their contributions to the program. 

Logger leaders

Meghan Bacher leads Puget Sound with 22 goals and eight assists. Haley Schuster is just behind with 19 goals. Marcella Heineke leads the squad with 32 ground balls and Izzy Amaya has scooped 23 ground balls. Ella Frazer leads the Loggers with 30 draw controls, and Elena Becker has caused a team-high 19 caused turnovers. Ally Benko is 4-5 in goal, with a 12.10 goals-against average.

Scouting the Blues (1-9, 0-3 NWC)

Whitman College most recently fell to George Fox, 17-5, after defeating Pacific, 14-9. The team scores 10.85 goals per game, led by Lindsay Schwartz, with 43 goals. Schwartz also has a team-high 61 draw controls and 23 caused turnovers. Mary Noyes has 31 goals and leads the Blues with 11 assists. Nina Moore leads the squad with 31 ground balls. Goalkeeper Kate Whittingham is 7-6, making 89 saves with a 10.47 goals-against average.
