Rivalry wins, NWC honors highlight 2018 lacrosse season

TACOMA, Washington – A pair of wins against its top rival and four All-Northwest Conference honors highlighted the 2018 Puget Sound lacrosse season.

The Loggers won both games against their top NWC rival, Pacific. The season's first contest against the Boxers was on the road, March 10. Ali Walker scored the game-winning goal (unassisted) with just under 90 seconds left in the game, giving Puget Sound an 11-10 victory.

Walker finished with two goals and an assist, while Isabel Amaya and Ella Frazer both netted three goals.

Puget Sound same away with a 17-13 win over Pacific on Senior Day, April 14. Walker and Frazer scored the first two goals of the game, and the Loggers never trailed. Playing in the final home game of her collegiate career, Frazer scored six goals and assisted on three scores. Walker and Amaya both scored three times, with Amaya assisting on five goals. 

By season's end, four Loggers earned All-NWC honors. Frazer was named to the All-NWC First Team, while fellow senior Kathryn Hart was named to the All-NWC Second Team. Frazer led the 2018 Loggers in total points with 24 (15 goals, nine assists).  

A pair of freshman impressed during their first collegiate season. Deryn Gersoff and Sarah Brust were both named All-NWC Honorable Mentions.

Goaltender Ally Benko led the NWC in saves with 126, and her 41.2 save percentage ranked third.

Frazer received Puget Sound's Tim McDonough Award for inspiration and leadership through involvement in the community, campus ministries and Social Justice during the All-Sports Celebration in April. In addition to being a CES Advisor, Trail Editor, and research assistant, this student-athlete is actively involved in Green Dot training, and Frazer is a leader for student-athletes to combat sexual assaults on campus.
