#2 Loggers Deliver 5-0 Uppercut Over Boxers

FOREST GROVE, Ore. – One day after riding the high of head coach Randy Hanson’s 200th career victory, the second-ranked Puget Sound Loggers got back to business, dismantling the Pacific Boxers, 5-0, in a Northwest Conference women’s soccer match on Sunday at Lincoln Park Stadium in Forest Grove, Ore.

The Loggers (11-0-0, 8-0-0 NWC) picked up the early lead in the 22nd minute when sophomore Jenny Moore (Kent, Wash./Kentwood) fired in a shot from five yards out for her eighth goal of the season. Senior Janece Levien (Beaverton, Ore.) made it 2-0 before halftime after controlling a misplay following a shot by freshman Maddy Fisk (Corvallis, Ore.).

In the second half, Levien made it 13 goals for the season after Moore fed the two-time defending NWC player of the year and Levien scored on the break-away in the 51st minute. Sophomore Mikaela Freeman (Alameda, Calif./Bishop O’Dowd) put the Loggers up by four in the 65th minute with a shot from eight yards out with Levien and Abby Goss (Spokane, Wash./University) picking up assists on the goal.

Freeman scored again less than five minutes later following a solid corner kick by sophomore Rochel Burke (Selah, Wash.) that gave the Loggers the 5-0 lead. Senior Kallie Wolfer (Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline) has a solid day in net, making five saves on 10 shots in 75:26 played. Katie Wheeler (Oregon City, Ore.) finished up the day in net, making one saves on three shots.

The Loggers head east next weekend as they travel to Whitman on Saturday and Whitworth on Sunday to open up the second half of conference play.
