Loggers Shoot Past DePauw, 4-0

WHEATON, Ill. - In their 2009 debut, the 11th-ranked Puget Sound Loggers looked to be in mid-season form, defeating DePauw, 4-0, in a NCAA Division III women's soccer match on Friday afternoon at the Bob Baptista Invitational in Wheaton, Ill.

The Loggers first got on the board in the 16th minute when Janece Levien (Beaverton, Ore.) found Kelly Anderson (Centennial, Colo./Littleton) and Anderson booted the ball past Caroline Kerr for the early 1-0 lead.  Levien made it 2-0 in the 36th minute when she scored her 53rd career goal to move into sole possession of second on the career goals scored list.  Levien took a pass from Jenny Moore (Kent, Wash./Kentwood) to move past current assistant coach Adrienne Folsom on the career list.

In the second half, DePauw changed goalkeepers but it was much the same result as Anderson scored her second goal of the game, again on a cross by Levien, to make it 3-0 Loggers.  Sophomore transfer Christine Isabella (Salt Lake City, Utah/Winthrop) made it 4-0 in the 85th minute, using a pass from Melissa Abellanida (Pukalani, Hawaii/King Kekaulike) to score her first goal for the Loggers.

Senior keeper Kallie Wolfer (Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline) made two saves to collect the win.  The Loggers outshot the Tigers, 28-11, on the day in what was a generally clean game, seeing just 12 fouls called.

The Loggers will be back in action on Saturday when they take on host and second-ranked Wheaton (Ill.), beginning at 4:30 pm CDT.
