#5 Loggers Bounce Back With 5-0 Rout of Pios

TACOMA, Wash. - After dropping their first match of the season in double-overtime last Sunday, the fifth-ranked Puget Sound Loggers bounced back in a big way, routing the Lewis & Clark Pioneers, 5-0, in a Northwest Conference women's soccer match on Saturday afternoon in Tacoma, Wash.

The Loggers, ranked fifth in the latest D3soccer.com Top 25, got on the board in the 24th minute when Theresa Henle (Issaquah, Wash.) fed the ball into all-american forward Janece Levien (Beaverton, Ore.) who finished from point-blank range for the early 1-0 advantage.

Just a few minutes after halftime, the Loggers made it 2-0 when Mikaela Freeman (Alameda, Calif./Bishop O'Dowd) unleashed a beautiful corner kick that bended right into the far upper corner of the net.  In the 55th minute, Levien struck against as she was able to put a head on a Freeman corner kick for the 3-0 lead.

Puget Sound scored their fourth goal of the afternoon in the 61st minute when Henle fed the ball from inside the box to the top and Kelly Andersen (Centennial, Colo./Littleton) was there to fired off a shot from about 19 yards out.  The Loggers' scoring came to a close in the 71st minute when Christine Isabella (Salt Lake City, Utah/Winthrop) shook a defender and shot from 15 yards out.

Kallie Wolfer (Salt Lake City, Utah/Skyline) collected the victory, not facing a shot on goal in 64:40 on play.  L&C's Elise Delgado make three saves but allowed the five goals on 26 total Puget Sound shots.  The Loggers held a 9-0 advantage on corner kicks as they dominated play for the entire 90 minutes.

The Loggers return to the pitch on Sunday afternoon when they play host to Willamette, beginning at Noon on Peyton Field at Baker Stadium in Tacoma, Wash.

A two-time Northwest Conference Offensive Player of the Year, Janece is set to leave the women's soccer program as perhaps the best to ever wear the maroon and white. "I chose Puget Sound because I wanted to go to a small school where I could focus on school and have soccer be a priority, but not my life, in case of injury. The people here are very friendly and the campus is beautiful."
