Logger Generate Chances But Fall 1-0 To Augustana

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Puget Sound women's soccer team owned the majority of possession but came up short in a 1-0 loss to No. 19 Augustana. The Loggers (1-1-0) held a 15-6 shot advantage but couldn't find a way past the Augustana (3-0) keeper.

Robin Vieira and Theresa Henle each fired three shots to lead the Loggers and Amalia Acorda-Fey put both of her shots on goal. The Loggers held a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal with Meredith Chew coming away with five saves.

Augustana's goal came late in the first half. Taylor Moesle found herself on a breakaway toward the Logger goal. Casey Thayer came off her line to make the initial save but Moesle corralled the rebound and found the back of the net on her second attempt for the match's only goal.

Moesle's shots were the only shots for Augustana in the first half and the only shots on goal in the match. They managed four shots in the second half but did not put one on goal.

The Loggers will face another tough test tomorrow when they face No. 4 Wheaton to conclude their play at the Whitworth Soccer Classic.
