Beeson's Goal Pushes Loggers Past George Fox

TACOMA, Wash. – Kylie Beeson scored the lone goal of the match just out of halftime to send the Puget Sound women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over visiting George Fox. The Loggers (2-2-1, 1-0-1 NWC) dominated possession from start to finish and held George Fox to just four shots.

Beeson's goal came in the 48th minute in the Loggers first threatening attack of the second half. Theresa Henle held the ball in the box and turned and fired a shot. Her shot deflected off a defender, straight up into the air. Beeson was waiting when the ball came back down and found the back of the net as she fired off her own shot.

The Loggers held a 20-4 shot advantage in the match, including a 5-0 advantage in shots on goal. The Loggers were also deep in George Fox's half often as they earned a 12-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Casey Thayer and Kara Merfeld combined for the shutout in goal and Alyssa Montero made four saves on the other end for the Bruins while allowing just the one goal.

The Loggers return to action next week when they host Linfield on Saturday at noon on East Field.
