SEATTLE – Puget Sound women's soccer junior Lauren Swanson was selected as the Northwest Conference Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week, the conference announce on Tuesday.
Swanson helped the Loggers to a 2-0 record on the week as the Loggers recorded two shutouts and limited opponents to just eight combined shots. Swanson also scored a game-winner.
On Saturday, the Loggers shutout previously undefeated Linfield and notched a 1-0 win. The Loggers held the high-powered Linfield attack to just four shots in the match and Swanson scored the match's only goal. They followed up that win with a 2-0 win at Willamette on Sunday as the bearcats managed just four shots with none being placed on goal.
Swanson is part of the Loggers back line that has not surrendered a goal since the first half of the conference-opener against Pacific Lutheran.
The Loggers head east this week with the men's soccer team to face Whitman and Whitworth. Sunday's match against Whitworth could feature the only two undefeated teams left in the NWC.
