TACOMA, Wash. – The Puget Sound women's soccer team ran its winning streak to four matches on Saturday with a 1-0 win over visiting Willamette. Robin Vieira scored her fifth goal of the season to boost the Loggers (9-3-1, 8-1-1 NWC) to the win.
Vieira's goal came in the 18th minute. Haley Rosenberg drove toward the end line and sent in a cross to the middle of the box. Vieira perfectly headed the ball past the keeper for the Logger goal.
Kara Merfeld made one save for the shutout. Nicole Price made five saves for the Bearcats (5-10-1, 2-8-1 NWC).
The Loggers held a 15-4 shot advantage in the match, including a 9-1 advantage in the first half as they spent most of the match in Willamette's half.
The Loggers are on the road tomorrow for a crucial match at NWC-leading Linfield at noon.
