Hanson Is NWC Coach Of The Year, Eight Loggers Selected All-NWC

Complete All-NWC Teams

FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Four Loggers were selected to the First Team and head coach Randy Hanson was named the Northwest Conference Coach of the Year to highlight the release of the All-NWC teams today. The Coach of the Year honors are the 10th of Hanson's career.

Senior Theresa Henle, junior Hannah Hawkins, junior Kylie Beeson and sophomore Robin Vieira all earned First Team honors for the Loggers. The four led the Loggers to an 11th consecutive conference title last week, extending the Loggers longest active Division III women's soccer title streak.

Henle was the Loggers leading scorer this year as the Loggers lone senior. She has scored six of her nine goals over the past five matches to lead the Loggers on a hot streak to end the season. She also added five assists for 23 total points.

Vieira ranked fourth on the team with five goals on the season. She also had one assist to earn a spot on the First Team for the first time in her career. She was selected to the Second Team as a freshman last year.

Beeson led the NWC in assists this year with eight. All three of her goals this season also stood as game-winners for 14 total points this year. Beeson stepped into a bigger role this season after earning Honorable Mention in 2011 and was rewarded with First Team honors.

Hawkins earned First Team honors for the first time in her career after earning Honorable Mention as a freshman and a sophomore. Hawkins was the cornerstone of the Loggers back line this year as its center back. She helped the Loggers allow just seven goals in conference matches this year, the lowest among NWC teams.

Kara Merfeld and Amalia Acroda-Fey earned Second Team honors. Acorda-Fey scored seven goals in her freshman campaign to immediately emerge as a scoring threat for the Loggers. Merfeld allowed just five goals and recorded eight shutouts this year while making 29 saves in goal.

Junior Lauren Hamilton and freshman Liz Blonden also represented the Loggers on the Honorable Mention list as key members of the Loggers stingy defense. The Loggers were again the top defensive team while in conference play.

The Loggers earned their 11th consecutive NWC title to end the 2012 regular season and will face Trinity in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in San Antonio, Texas. Match time is set for 11:30 a.m. (PT) with live stats and live video available through LoggerAthletics.com.
