Loggers carry five-game unbeaten streak into the weekend

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound women's soccer team carries a five-game unbeaten streak to Oregon, to take on Linfield Friday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m., and George Fox Sunday, Oct. 15, at 12 p.m.

Streaking

Puget Sound is unbeated in its last five contests, collecting three wins and two ties for 11 points in the Northwest Conference standings.

 

Halfway there

The Loggers are half way through conference play with a record of, 4-2-2, and eight games to go. They're heading into this weekend off a 2-0 win against Pacific, and a 0-0 tie against Willamette. Puget Sound is currently in third place behind Whitworth (7-0-1), and Pacific Lutheran (7-1-0). The Loggers took Whitworth into double-overtime, and has been the only team the Pirates couldn't defeat.

 

United backline

The Puget Sound defense has allowed only three goals in the last five games, two of which came from the 2-2 tie vs. conference leader Willamette. The Logger defense helped secure two shutouts last weekend, earning goalkeeper Jamie Lange Northwest Conference Student-Athlete of the Week (defensive) for the second time - learn more HERE

 

Scouting Linfield (6-5-1, 4-3-1 NWC)

The Wildcats are facing the Loggers for the second time this season, after defeating them, 2-1, on Sept. 16. In more recent news, they're coming off a 4-0 win against Whitman, and a 3-2 loss vs. Whitworth. Freshmen forwards Emma Smith and Kristen Burke lead the Linfield attack with three conference goals each.

 

Scouting George Fox (5-4-2, 3-3-2 NWC)

The Bruins fell to the Loggers, 2-1, in their first matchup on Sept. 17, in Tacoma, Washington. Last weekend George Fox fell to Pacific Lutheran, 5-0, but bounced back and captured a 2-0 win over Willamette the following day. George Fox has recorded 16 goals in 11 games, and freshman forward Chloe Shumaker has commanded the offense by netting four goals this season.
