TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound women's soccer team blanked the first-place Lutes, 1-0, on Peyton Field Wednesday afternoon.
The cross-town rivals battled in the first 45 minutes, but entered halftime scoreless on both sides.
The Loggers notched the game winner in the 57th minute when Jacquelyn Anderson netted a penalty kick flawlessly. The PK was caused by a Pacific Lutheran handball inside the 18 yard box.
The Lutes recorded 10 shots in the second half but failed to find the equalizer.
Goalkeeper Jamie Lange secured the Loggers win with six saves, three in each half.
The Loggers remain at home to take on Lewis & Clark on Saturday, Oct. 21, at 12 p.m.
