TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound women's soccer team dominated Lewis &Clark, 4-0, on Peyton Field Saturday afternoon.
The Loggers notched their first goal in the 14th minute when forward Lura Morton intercepted a goal kick from the Pioneers. After trapping the ball Morton quickly took a shot and chipped the goalkeeper, leveraging Puget Sound to an early 1-0 lead.
In the 40th minute Gennie Cheatham tallied the Loggers second goal. Cheatham received a pass from Tayla MacPherson and fired a shot on top of the 18 yard box, recording the second goal of the match and her fifth of the season.
Just two minutes into the second half Morton secured her second goal of the game. Emily Prasil dribbled down the left sideline and sent a cross into the box, Tess Peppis received the ball and placed a shot that was blocked by the Pioneer's goalkeeper. Morton quickly rebounded the ball and netted the Loggers third goal, attaining her sixth of the season.
Gabbie Berg scored the fourth and final goal of the match in the 58th minute. Peppis propelled a cross from the right corner across the face of the goal, Berg remained composed under pressure and finished the ball perfectly.
The Loggers have now won five consecutive games and goalkeeper Jamie Lange has played 618 sequential scoreless minutes.
Puget Sound remains at home to take on Whitworth Saturday, Oct. 28, at 12 p.m.
