Loggers fall, 2-1, at Willamette

SALEM, Oregon - One goal wasn't enough for the Puget Sound women's soccer team Saturday afternoon vs. the Willamette Bearcats.

The Bearcats got on the board initially in the 21st minute of the first half. After receiving a pass from Annie Strom, Emmy Manset netted her shot from seven yards out into the upper right corner of the goal.

Just four minutes later midfielder Tayla MacPherson found the equalizer for the Loggers, tying the match 1-1. This was Macpherson's sixth goal of the season.

In the 37th minute Willamette struck back and secured their win. Yume Matsuyama placed a ball to Shanna Keil seven yards in front of the goal that Keil scored into the upper right bend of the net.

The Loggers out-shot the Bearcats 7-6 in the second half but failed to find a second goal.

Puget Sound finishes up conference play on the road vs. Pacific on Sunday, Nov. 5, at 12 p.m.
