Morton's game-winning goal vaults Loggers into postseason

TACOMA, Washington – Lura Morton scored the game-winning goal that vaulted the Puget Sound women's soccer team to a share of the Northwest Conference Championship and the automatic bid for the NCAA D-III Women's Soccer Championship. The senior forward is the Logger Club Logger of the Week.

The Loggers entered the regular-season finale at Linfield (Nov. 4) in a must-win situation, but Puget Sound found itself down, 2-0, at halftime. 

Gabbie Berg put the Loggers on the board in the 76th minute, and Morton netted the equalizer two minutes later. 

With five minutes left in regulation, Morton netted the game-winning goal off a pass from Berg.

Morton finished the regular season with six goals, five of which were game-winners.

The Loggers begin their NCAA D-III Championship run at host Hardin Simmons (Abilene, Texas) Saturday, Nov. 10. More information to follow.
