Loggers Win Both Matches On Saturday

TACOMA, Wash. – The Puget Sound women's tennis team won both matches of a doubleheader on Saturday, winning 6-3 over Lewis & Clark and 9-0 over College of Idaho.

Lewis & Clark – W, 6-3

The Loggers got off to a good start with two of the tree doubles points. Marissa Friedman and Logan Thompson won the #2 match 8-4 and Ada Yu and Maddie Thiesse cruised to an 8-2 win in the #3 match.

Lisa Osepyan won the #1 match for the Pios 6-2, 6-1 over Madison Holtz but Jenna Gerdsen's 7-5, 6-7, 1-0 win in the #2 match got the Loggers back on the winning track. Jill Coleman captured the Pios final win 6-4, 6-3 in the #3 match over Logan Thompson.

Maddie Thiesse and Josie Dow each won 6-4, 6-2 in the #4 and #5 matches respectively. Marissa Friedman put the finishing touches on the win with a 6-2, 6-0 win in the #6 match.

College of Idaho – W, 9-0

The Loggers won all three doubles matches before winning all six singles matches in straight sets.

Holtz and Josie Dow won 8-1 in the #1 match and Yu and Thiesse teamed up to win 8-3 at #2. Holly Dixon and Nina Ho won the third doubles point 8-6.

Holtz kept the Loggers sweep going with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Shae Stults. Logan Thompson, Dow and Devin Fields all won 6-2, 6-1. Allison Embernate then won 6-2, 6-0 at the #5 match and Jessie Gauger finished off the sweep with a 6-4, 6-1 win at #6.

The Loggers are back home next week to host Pacific and George Fox.
