Puget Sound Director of Athletics Amy Hackett announced Mark Hanson as the Loggers' new head coach for the men's and women's tennis programs. Hanson brings over 25 years of successful coaching experience at the college, junior, and international levels.
Hanson currently serves as the director of the junior excellence program at Eastside Tennis Center in Kirkland, Washington, where he has created a nationally recognized junior development program. At the collegiate level, Hanson's background includes serving as the head coach at Seattle University from 1998-2000, where the women's team achieved a top-25 ranking. He also had stints at University of Washington and Green River Community College.
"I am humbled and honored to have this opportunity to develop both the Loggers' men's and women's tennis programs," said Hanson. "I look forward to creating a competitive culture along with an incredible student-athlete experience. I am excited for the future of Puget Sound tennis."
Outside of the collegiate ranks, Hanson has coaching and instructional experience in the Women's Tennis Association and the U.S. Open Juniors. He also previously served as Director of Tennis at Tacoma Lawn Tennis Club.
"We were impressed with Mark's enthusiasm for coaching at the college level and his desire to raise the profile of Puget Sound's tennis program," said Hackett. "He brings a wealth of technical knowledge which will greatly benefit our student-athletes."
A Pacific Northwest native, Hanson attended Green River Community College and Sacramento State.
