Denman, Blickenstaff Named First Team All-NWC

TACOMA, Wash. - After attacking their way to the NCAA Division III Tournament, junior Lindsey Denman (Kenmore, Wash./Inglemoor) and freshman Brynn Blickenstaff (Eagle, Idaho) have been named to the First-Team All-Northwest Conference team, as voted on by the coaches and announced by the conference on Monday night.

Denman earns First Team honors in 2008 after being a Honorable Mention selection in 2007.  She finished the 2008 regular season, leading the Loggers with 3.35 kills per set in 85 sets played.  She also added 2.24 digs per set to help the Logger defense.  

Blickenstaff had a solid freshman season, putting down an average of 3.09 kills per set while hitting .208 from the floor.  The solid left-side hitter, she earned Honorable Mention Student-Athlete of the Week honors twice during the regular season.

Also earning honors for the Loggers was junior middle Kalli Kamphaus (Manson, Wash.) and senior setter Jamee Fred (Centennial, Colo./Grandview), who both earned Honorable Mention honors.

The Loggers open up the postseason on Thursday afternoon when they take on the Cal Lutheran Regals in the first round of the NCAA West Regionals at 4:30 p.m. at University of La Verne in La Verne, Calif.

A four-year contributor for the Logger volleyball program, Kalli has had a great experience at Puget Sound. In addition to two trips to the NCAA Tournament, including a trip to the Elite Eight as a sophomore, Kalli has had success in the classroom as well. "When you visit Puget Sound, you know that is where you belong. I couldn't see myself anywhere else."
