#14 Loggers Take Two At Colorado College Invitational
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Taking to the road for the first time in 2009, the 14th-ranked Puget Sound Loggers took care of business, picking up wins over Stevens Institute of Technology and Keuka on Friday at the Colorado College Invitational in Colorado Springs, Colo.
In their first match of the tournament, the Loggers won the first set over Stevens, 25-22 but then lost big in the second set, 25-14, as Ducks pulled even. After the Loggers took set three, the Ducks again came quacking back with a 25-20 set four victory to force the decisive fifth set. In the fifth set, Puget Sound outlasted upset-minded Stevens, 17-15, to move to 4-1 on the young season.
In their second match of the day, the Loggers didn't have much problem calming the Keuka Storm. The Loggers cruised to the victory in straight sets, 25-10, 25-16, and 25-11 for their fifth victory in just over a week. Individual statistics were not made available for either match on Friday.
The Loggers will be back in action on Saturday when they take on McMurry at 2:00 p.m. CDT before facing off against host and 15th-ranked Colorado College at 6:00 p.m CDT.
