Blickenstaff Earns All-Region Honors

LEXINGTON, Ky. - After avoiding a sophomore slump to lead the 22nd-ranked Puget Sound Loggers back to the NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship, sophomore outside hitter Brynn Blickenstaff (Eagle, Idaho) has been named All-West Region by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

Blickenstaff, who was the 2008 AVCA West Region Freshman of the Year, represented Loggers on the regional squad after averaging 2.75 kills per set.  She also had 152 digs in the regular season and 26 service aces for the maroon and white.

This marks the fifth straight season that the Loggers have had a representative on the AVCA All-West Region team.

The Loggers ended their season on Thursday in a five-set heartbreaker with Cal Lutheran in the first round of the NCAA DIII Volleyball Championship in Redlands, Calif.

Christina Chun is in her second season in the maroon and white and seeing her playing time increase in the back row. In her first year at Puget Sound, Christina learned what it means to be a Logger. “Being a Logger means being an excellent all-around person. We can excel in sports and academics because of the great programs we have for both aspects.”
