WALLA WALLA, Washington – The Puget Sound volleyball team opened a challenging road weekend with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-20) loss at Whitman on Friday night.
After losing the first set, 25-21, the Loggers (7-9, 4-5 NWC) kept it even closer in the second set. A Whitman (5-9, 5-4 NWC) tied up the second set, 12-12. The teams endured five different tie scores from that point on, including a 20-20 knot following a Blues error. Clinging to a 23-22 lead, Whitman notched consecutive points for the win.
Katarina Moffett and Alli Reviglio tied for the team lead with six kills, each. Whitman committed more errors than the Loggers, 20-19, and Puget Sound finished with more total blocks, 10-9. However, the Loggers attacked at a .109 clip, and the Blues hit .237.
The Loggers conclude the weekend at Whitworth on Saturday, October 14, at 5 p.m.
