TACOMA, Washington – Logger freshman Melanie Siacotos had a season-high 11 kills Friday night, but the Puget Sound volleyball team lost to George Fox, 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-23), during Dig Pink night in Memorial Fieldhouse.
Siacotos finished the night with an impressive .409 hitting percentage, and she added a solo block. Rita Dexter led the Loggers with 13 kills by hitting a whopping .571. Dexter also totaled 3.5 blocks. Still, the Loggers (7-11, 4-7 NWC) had trouble keeping pace with the Bruins (7-8, 6-5 NWC).
After dropping the first two sets, Puget Sound appeared reinvigorated early in the third set. Siacotos opened the set with a kill, the Bruins followed with an error, and Kristen Miguel's service ace gave the Loggers a 3-0 lead.
The Bruins fought back to even the score, 7-7, but Puget Sound used an 8-0 run to take a 15-7 lead. Dexter had four kills during the run.
Once again in the set, George Fox found a way to tie the score, 20-20.
The Loggers have one more home match this weekend with a 5 p.m. Northwest Conference bout against Pacific on Saturday, Oct. 21.
