Cross Country 4th, 5th in Season Opener

LACEY, Wash.  - Junior Francis Reynolds (Palo Alto, Calif.) took sixth and was the top Division III finisher as the Puget Sound men took fifth at the St. Martin's Invitational in Lacey on Saturday morning.  The women took fourth in the meet to open the 2008 season.

Reynolds finished the eight-kilometer course in 27:14.60.  Andrew Bonica (Tualatin, Ore.) finished 20th while Casey Wall (Portland, Ore./Cleveland) took 22nd.  As a team, the Loggers took fifth.  The race was won by St. Martin's John Riak while Lewis & Clark took the top spot in the team standings.

On the women's side, the Loggers' top finisher was Emma Kelsey (Bayside, Calif./Arcata), who finished the six-kilometer course in 24:49.20.  Ali Garel (Greenwood Village, Colo./Cherry Creek) took 18th while freshman Nika Evans (Wayzata, Minn.) finished in 25th.  As a team, the Loggers took fourth place.  Division II power Seattle Pacific took the team spot while SPU's Jane Larson won the individual title.

The Loggers will run again on Sep. 20 when they travel to Seattle for the Sunddoger Invitational.
