Logger Finish Middle of the Pack At Willamette Invite

SALEM, Ore. - Running on the same course they will compete on for the NCAA DIII West Regionals in November, the Puget Sound Loggers finished 16th on the men's side and 18th on the women's side at the Willamette Charles Bowles Invitational on Saturday in Salem, Ore.

On the men's side, junior Francis Reynolds (Palo Alto, Calif.) finished 10th with a time of 25:15.12 and was the highest finishing DIII runner in the race.  Andrew Bonica (Tualatin, Ore.) was the next Logger across the line, finishing 65th with a time of 26:22.46.  Scott Bauhs of Chico State won the race in a time of 24:06.32 as 301 runners competed in the eight-kilometer race.

In the women's race, Emma Kelsey (Bayside, Calif./Arcata) led the Loggers with a 24th place finish, recording a time of 18:46.48 over the five-kilometer course.  Junior Ali Garel (Greenwood Village, Colo./Cherry Creek) took 74th in a time of 19:37.09.  Maddie Coffman of Willamette won the race, which featured 288 runners, in a time of 17:37.53.

The Loggers will next be in action next Saturday when they travel to Parkland for the PLU Invitational.
