Logger XC 3rd, 5th at Pioneer Invite

ESTACADA, Ore. - Emma Kelsey (Arcata, Calif./Bayside) took sixth and Francis Reynolds (Palo Alto, Calif.) took fifth at the Loggers put together a pair of great team performances at the Lewis & Clark Pioneer Invitational on Saturday morning at McIver State Park in Estacada, Ore.  The Loggers women took third while the men took fifth.

On the women's side, Kelsey was the fourthNWC runner across the line in a race that featured five of the nine NWC schools that will race for the NWC Championship on Nov. 1 in Walla Walla, Wash.  Kelsey's time of 22:39 was not only a personal record but is the eighth fastest women's 6k time in Puget Sound history.  Ali Garel (Greenwood Village, Colo./Cherry Creek) and Hayley Walker (Cambria, Calif./Coast Union) finished 17th and 18th respectively as the Loggers recorded a team score of 91 to take third place as a team.

On the men's side, Reynolds took fifth with a time of 25:52, just 21 seconds out of first place in the eight-kilometer race.  Andrew Bonica (Tualatin, Ore.) also finished in the top ten, recording a time of 26:10 to take 10th place.  The Loggers recorded a team score of 97 to take fifth in the nine-team field.

The Loggers will now turn their attention to the 2008 Northwest Conference Championships on Nov. 1 in Walla Walla.
