FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The Puget Sound men's cross country team came in third and the women placed sixth at the Northwest Conference Championships on Saturday. Matt Klein and Justin Bigelow were All-NWC performers for the men's team with Klein placing third to lead the Loggers.
The Logger men totaled 96 points to finish just six points behind Lewis & Clark, who took second. Willamette won the conference title with 40 points. On the women's side, the Loggers 187 points to come in sixth as a team. Lewis & Clark ran away with the women's title.
Klein ran a 26:12 to take third and Justin Bigelow followed with a 26:41 in 12th as both earned All-NWC honors. Josh Seekatz wasn't too far behind as he placed 19th with a 27:02. David Santillan crossed the finish line at 27:24 in 28th and Jusin Higa rounded out the Logger scoring with a 27:36 in 34th.
All five scoring Loggers for the women finished within 15 seconds of each other in a solid effort. Kathryn Flyte was the Logger women's top finisher as she turned in a time of 24-18 in 29th individually. Carrie Keith was 35th and just behind Flyte with a time of 24:24. Tori Sarris was just three seconds behind Keith at 24:27 to place 39th overall. She finished just in front of Taili Ni, who placed 40th with a 24:28. Emma Barr's time of 24:33 rounded out the Logger scoring as she place 44th.
The Logger teams will head to the NCAA West Regionals next on Nov. 10 in Salem, Ore.
