TACOMA, Washington – The men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete in the Northwest Conference Championships hosted by Pacific Lutheran in Parkland on Saturday, Oct. 31. The women's 6K race is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., while the men's 8K race will start at 11 a.m.
The Logger men look to improve on last year's second-place finish. Tyler Shipley, who has been named the NWC Student-Athlete of the Week four times this season, leads the squad. The senior has won two events this year, and most recently placed second at the Pioneer Invitational (Oct. 17). Geremia Lizier-Zmudzin will also look to compete with the top runners. The sophomore has finished in the top-five in two races this year. Puget Sound's men's team most recently finished in second place at the Pioneer Invitational. Willamette is the defending champion of the event.
The Logger women are led by Taili Ni. Ni most recently placed eighth at the Pioneer Invitational, and has earned NWC Student-Athlete of the Week honors twice this year. The women's squad most recently finished eighth at the Pioneer Invitational, and will be looking to improve on a third place finish at last year's NWC Championships. The Willamette women won the race last year.
