Metzler earns Logger of the Week following first collegiate race

TACOMA, Washington – Running in the first race of her collegiate career, Puget Sound women's cross country freshman Rachael Metzler placed second in the Puget Sound Invitational for the first Logger of the Week honor of the 2017-18 year.

The Lafayette, Colorado, native timed in at 24:18.00 during the race at Ft. Steilacoom Park, and she was the first of six consecutive Loggers to cross the finish line.

The Puget Sound women won their first meet of the season by a wide margin. The Loggers totaled 20 points, while second-place St. Martin's finished with 60 points. Pacific Lutheran placed third with 61 points, and Green River Community College finished with 110 points.

The Logger men's and women's teams are back in action in the Sundodger Invitational in Seattle on Saturday, Sept. 16.
