TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound cross country teams prepare for the final race before the Northwest Conference Championships, as the Loggers run in the Lewis & Clark Invitational Saturday, Oct. 14, at McIver Park in Estacada, Oregon.
The Puget Sound women are ranked the U.S. Track & Field and Cross County Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) West Region for the fourth consecutive week. This week's No. 5 rank is the second straight week the Loggers have held on to that spot.
Several underclassmen have stood for the men's and women's teams this fall. Freshman Rachael Metzler placed second her first-ever college race (Puget Sound Invitational), a performance that earned a Logger Club Logger of the Week nod. Freshman Samantha Schaffer's Schaffer's 22:41.97 in the Sundodger Invitational (Sept. 16) is ranked No. 13 in Logger history, and Metzler's 22:45.36 in the same race is No. 16. On the men's side, sophomore Isaac Fournier was the top Logger in the Sundodger.
Whitman hosts the NWC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 28, at Memorial Golf Course in Walla Walla, Washington.
