Bradlina, Monaghan lead way to Logger victories

LAKEWOOD, WashingtonEmery Bradlina won the women's race and Colin Monaghan won the men's race as the Puget Sound men's and women's cross country teams began the season by winning the Puget Sound Invitational in Fort Steilacoom Park Saturday morning.

Saturday was Bradlina's first cross country meet since 2016, as she studied abroad during the 2017 season. Bradlina timed in at 23:41.00 in the women's 6k.

Samantha Schaffer, the reigning Northwest Conference Women's Cross Country Freshman of the Year, placed third with a time of 24:32.00. Abigail Dalke was fourth by timing in at 25:13.00.

Running in his first collegiate race, Monaghan was the first men's runner to cross the finish line when he timed in at 25:55.00 in the men's 8k. Basil Engledow placed fifth overall with a time of 28:10.

Puget Sound next competes in the Pacific Lutheran Invitational, Sept. 15.
