TACOMA, Washington – Nicole Bouche '19 and Sam Gonzalez '19 headline Puget Sound's 119 Northwest Conference Scholar-Athlete honors, the NWC announced this week.
In order to qualify as a NWC Scholar-Athlete, student-athletes must have a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA and must have participated throughout an entire varsity season.
Both Bouche and Gonzalez were named NWC First Team Scholar-Athletes. They each graduated with a 3.96 GPA. Following her final collegiate women's tennis season, Bouche was named to All-NWC Second Team. Bouche, a biology major with a minor in French, posted a 10-5 record at No. 2 singles, and was 11-4 at No. 1 doubles.
Through 58 career games with the men's soccer team, Gonzalez started on the back line in 54. During his senior season, the captain became the third Puget Sound student-athlete in five years to be named a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American.
Bouche received Puget Sound's John Heinrick Award for Most Inspirational Student-Athlete, and Gonzalez received the Harry Werbisky Award for Scholarship, Skill, and Determination.
Puget Sound women's soccer placed 15 NWC Scholar-Athletes, followed by women's crew (12), volleyball (11), baseball (9), women's cross country (8), football (7), men's soccer (7), women's swimming (5), and men's basketball (5).
