Loggers Shutout Across Town In Series Finale

PARKLAND, Wash. – The Puget Sound baseball team was shutout 6-0 in Sunday's series finale at Pacific Lutheran. Alex Baugh and Jeff Walton combined for two shutout innings in relief to end the game.

Jacob Hoffman opened the scoring for the Lutes (14-7, 9-3 NWC) with an RBI-single in the first. A Hoffman single in the third put the Lutes up 2-0.

That would prove to be more than enough as Nathan Eisenhauer tossed a complete game shutout for the Lutes, allowing just two Logger hits.

Addison Melzer singled in the first for the Loggers and Will Mentor singled in the fourth. The Loggers also drew three walks but were unable to advance past first base.

While the Loggers struggled to get going at the plate, the Lutes added one more run in the fourth and put some extra distance on the lead with three runs in the sixth.

Matt Robinson pitched six innings for the Loggers and struck out four while only walking one. Alex Baugh issued just one walk in a scoreless seventh and Jeff Walton tossed a scoreless eighth to finish up for the Loggers.

The Loggers are back home next week to host eighth-ranked Linfield in a three-game NWC series. The series opens on Saturday at noon.
