Loggers return to NWC action at home against Pacific

TACOMA, Washington – The Puget Sound baseball team returns to its Northwest Conference slate by hosting Pacific for a three-game series this weekend. It all begins with a doubleheader at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 17.

Setting the table

Senior centerfielder Cal Muramaru had a dynamic game against Swarthmore at home Wednesday. Batting No. 2 in the order, he reached base on a drag bunt, hit an opposite-field single, roped an RBI double, scored two runs, and made a great diving catch in the outfield.


Ding dong

Corey Roberts and Kyle Strash both homered against Swarthmore Wednesday. Strash's second-career home run was a solo shot, and Robert's three-run homer is his first of the season.


Top hits

Kyle Strash and Mason Quinlan rank among the five best hitters in the NWC. Strash's .381 batting average is fourth in the league, and Quinlan's .377 mark is fifth. Strash is also tied for second in on-base percentage (.500), and he's fifth in slugging percentage (.595).


Slash lines

Puget Sound ranks among the NWC's best teams in hitting, slugging, and on-base percentage. As a team, Puget Sound is hitting .288 (third in NWC), getting on base at a .401 clip (second in NWC), and slugging .407 (tied first NWC).


Scouting Pacific (8-12, 4-8 NWC)

The Boxers enter this weekend with seven consecutive losses, including extra-inning losses against George Fox and Pacific Lutheran. Cole Kanazawa is third in the NWC with a 1.82 ERA in 13 appearances out of the bullpen. The Boxers rank last in the NWC in hitting with a .230 team batting average, but their 4.25 ERA is third in the NWC. Dylan Wright has a team-high 18 RBI.
